Dr. Balaji Palanisamy, Assistant Professor, School of Information Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, is giving a lecture on “ Cost-effective Resource Management for MapReduce Clouds: Challenges, Architectures and Techniques” on 22nd July 2013 (Monday) at 10.30 am in the CSED Seminar Hall. He will also inaugurate the activities of CSEA for the new academic year.
Biodata of the speaker:
Balaji Palanisamy is an Assistant Professor in the School of Information Sciences in University of Pittsburgh. He completed his PhD in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and his research interests span the broad areas of Distributed Systems, Cloud Computing, and Big Data Processing. His PhD dissertation research is primarily centered on performance optimization and data privacy issues in large-scale data-intensive systems and applications, such as MapReduce Cloud systems, Mobile Location-based Services and Privacy-preserving Cloud Computing. Balaji is a recipient of an IBM Research PhD Fellowship, a Best Paper Award in IEEE CLOUD 2012 and a Best Undergraduate Thesis award from Pondicherry University, India.
